After a complete site redesign ip2country is now buzzword compliant. Web 2.0, Ajax, Ruby on Rails etc. (Oh, and the ip number database has been updated!)
What's this? Using this site you can find the country in which almost any web site is physically located. This is known as geolocation. Type in the name of the web site below (without the http) e.g. www.example.com or www.thisone.net or its IP Address if you know it and click go.
Can I use this to find the country of a web site while browsing?Yes! You can use the excellent plugin for Mozilla Firefox called ShowIP by Jann Dittmer. With this plugin you can automatically query this service to find the location of the web site you are currently browing. The result of the query opens in a separate tab.
If you find this site useful why not bookmark it (Ctrl-D) so you can find it again more easily. You could even make it your home page so you always know your own ip address and can search Google too.
If you own a web site, you can link to this service to help others find it more easily. Below is some suggested text which you can use (you can copy and paste directly from here) ip2country
